Sayre Memorial Hospital Participates in National Wear Red Day

Sayre Memorial Hospital will be participating in the National Wear Red Day Campaign. We would also like to encourage the community to support the cause and join the Wear Red Day campaign. Wear red on Friday, February 5, 2010 and encourage your friends and family to do the same!

SMH employees can wear a red shirt with jeans for a donation of $5.00 on Friday, February 5, 2010. After the fundraising is over, SMH will match the funds raised and all proceeds will go to the Go Red campaign at the American Heart Association.

You may not know this, but the number one killer of women is heart disease. And every year more than 460,000 women die from this largely preventable disease.

National Wear Red Day is a day to recognize the women who have died from this disease, to build awareness of the statistics, and to encourage all women to make a choice to beat heart disease. This year National Wear Red Day is February 5. National Wear Red Day is for women like Theresa. As a busy mom, Theresa kept putting off a check-up, but called her doctor when she felt tired, short of breath, and started having back and chest pains. “I had a feeling that it was my heart, but all the tests were saying it wasn’t, “ Theresa said. Two months later, Theresa had a massive heart attack at a family birthday party. She was 38. You can read Theresa’s story at www.GoRedForWomen.org/stories.

Sayre Home Health Named as Top 500 Home Health Care Provider of 2009 HomeCare Elite

Sayre, OK, November 9, 2009 — Sayre Home Health today announced that it has been named to the 2009 HomeCare Elite™, a compilation of the top performing home health agencies in the United States. This annual review identifies the Top 25 percent of agencies and further highlights the top 100 and top 500 agencies overall. Winners are ranked by an analysis of performance measures in quality outcomes, quality improvement and financial performance.

“The 2009 HomeCare Elite winners exemplify a commitment to providing their patients with the best possible care while performing at the highest level,” said Nancy Buller, senior director of marketing communications at OCS HomeCare. "We congratulate Sayre Home Health on being one of the Top 500 home care agencies in the country."

“DecisionHealth would like to congratulate the top HomeCare Elite agencies that achieved excellent clinical and financial outcomes by providing quality care to their patients,” adds Marci Heydt, executive editor of DecisionHealth’s Home Health Line.

The 2009 HomeCare Elite is the only performance recognition of its kind in the home health industry. The 2009 HomeCare Elite is brought to the industry by OCS, Inc., the leading provider of homecare information, and DecisionHealth, publisher of home care’s most respected independent newsletter Home Health Line. The data used for this analysis was compiled from publicly available information. The entire list of the 2009 HomeCare Elite agencies can be viewed by visiting the OCS Web site at www.ocshomecare.com.

From The Sayre Record & Beckham County Democrat:

OCS HomeCare and DecisionHealth are pleased to announced the 2009 Home Care Elite, a compilation of the top-performing Medicare-certified home health care agencies in the United States. The list includes Sayre Home Health--for the third year in a row!

For the past three years, Sayre Home Health has been scored in the top 500 (25 percentile) agencies. The year before that, they ranked in the top 100. The staff of six health care providers rank among the best in the nation's 9,000+ agencies. Registered Nurse Cleta Joy Cox is the director. Working with her include Nelda Tomberlin and Beth Boone, both RNs, and LPN Jackie Stanley. Business manager is Penny Smith and office manager is Mary Villegas.

The Sayre Memorial Hospital's Physical Therapy Department handles all Physical Therapy calls for Sayre Home Health.

Sayre Home Health Director Cleta Joy Cox says that in the top 25% agencies, only 42 were Oklahoma agencies. Only 13 agencies were among the top 500 and even a smaller number, two Sooner State agencies, made the top 100 list.

The HomeCare Elite annual review identifies the top 25% of home health care agencies and further highlights the top 100 and top 500 home health agencies overall. Winners are ranked by an analysis of performance measures in quality outcomes, quality improvements, and financial performance.

"The HomeCare Elite has become the industry standard for identifying home health agencies that perform at the highest level," says Amanda Twiss, president and CEO of OCS HomeCare. "We congratulate Sayre Home Health and other 2009 HomeCare Elite for their continued success and commitment to both high quality and strong financial performance."

"DecisionHealth commends the top HomeCare Elite home health agencies that work so hard to provide quality care while maintaining solid financial outcomes," says Doreen Bieryla, president, DecisionHealth. "This is a big feat given the flurry of legislative and regulatory changes that present ongoing challenges for the home health industry."

From The Sayre Record & Beckham County Democrat:

Stace Holland is now leading the staff at Sayre Memorial Hospital.

Holland has hit the ground running, putting his years of experience to work at Sayre’s new facility.

The new CEO/Administrator has led four rural hospitals. His first was the Haskell County HealthCare System in Stigler, where he served four years. This was a 43-bed facility which included a home care operation.

He then served as CEO at the 38-bed Clay County Memorial Hospital in Henrietta Texas.

His next stint was serving as administrator at the Clarksville, Texas plant, a 49-bed facility.

Holland also served as the CEO of the Rockwall Hospital Corporation in Bastrop, Texas. This facility is a 19-bed physician owned start-up plant which opened in January of 2006.

He also served as CEO of the Cardiology Clinic of Muskogee. This was a 14-physician multi-specialty group.

His latest assignment was service as vice-president of operations from the Sheridan HealthCorp Inc., of Plano, TX.

Holland most enjoys managing small hospitals, such as the one in Sayre.

“This hospital has tremendous opportunity and potential. We have a quality medical staff which includes talented doctors, P.A.’s, nurses and other professionals,” said Holland. “Sayre should be proud of this facility.”

The new CEO feels the hospital should integrate into the community. “I know there are many hospital employees that are active in the community and I firmly believe we should be involved in outreach like this. I will constantly encourage the staff to put their credentials to work both for the hospital and for the city.”

Holland holds a Bachelor of Business Administration with a major in Management and Healthcare from Oklahoma Baptist University.

He is a member of various health Care affiliations and has coached girls softball, boys soccer and basketball and organized a soccer association. Holland has served in various Chambers of Commerce, has been elected to serve on a City Council, and other community interests.

He and his wife, Carla, have three children. Their daughter, Cayse, recently married. A resident of Tyler, Texas, she has a degree in pre-med but is currently teaching Science at a Tyler school and not pursuing med school at this time.

Son Chance holds a building and grounds certificate and has been hired to maintain the Sayre Memorial Hospital grounds.

Son Colton is currently attending Oklahoma Baptist University and plays on the golf team.

Holland plans to be an active member of the community, hoping to share his energy in Chamber of Commerce and civic duties. He loves to hunt and also enjoys bowling.
